Can You Trust a Polymarket PnL Screenshot?

You do not have to. Every Polymarket account is a public wallet on Polygon, so the record behind any P&L screenshot is checkable in about 30 seconds without the poster's permission. Find the wallet's 0x address (Polymarket profile URLs contain it) and paste it into the free Polymarket wallet analyzer. No signup, public data only. If a poster will not share the address behind a screenshot, that refusal is itself the answer.

What a screenshot can hide

  • The window. A screenshot shows the slice the poster chose: the best month of a losing year, or the run-up before a drawdown. The chain shows the whole resolved record.
  • Concentration. One resolved event can account for most of the net result. The free check flags any record where a single event is at least 60% of the net result as too concentrated to read, and that flag overrides any flattering headline number.
  • Open positions. Unrealized marks can flatter or bury the resolved reality. The check reads resolved positions only; open positions do not enter the verdict.
  • Ownership. Profiles are public, so anyone can screenshot anyone else's P&L page and imply it is theirs. Proving ownership requires a signature from the wallet itself, covered at how to verify Polymarket wallet ownership.

Even a real P&L is not a skill receipt

Suppose the screenshot is genuine and the poster owns the wallet. The figure is still a point estimate with the uncertainty cropped out. The honest read of a record is the realized entry edge (how much more often entries resolved true than the price paid implied) with its bootstrap 95% interval against zero. On 2026-06-09 we ran our skill read on our own published top-50 cohort; 35 of 50 had enough resolved positions to test; exactly one interval cleared zero on the positive side, roughly what chance predicts across 35 tests at a 2.5% threshold (about 0.9 false positives expected), and it did not survive a multiple-comparisons correction. In that same scan, a wallet with a very large public P&L that people cite as proof of skill showed an edge of +0.4 probability points, 95% interval [-16.0, +15.6], across 38 resolved positions. The full per-wallet table is at the top-50 skill scan.

The 30-second verification routine

  1. Get the address. A Polymarket profile URL contains the account's public 0x address; the poster can also just share it. No address, no checkable claim.
  2. Paste it into the free check. It reads resolved positions from public data and returns calibration, sizing, concentration, and the realized edge with its 95% interval.
  3. Read the verdict the interval supports, including “cannot tell”, which is the most common honest outcome at retail sample sizes. What each output means is covered at how to check a Polymarket track record.
